Barbara Board, Ph.D.

Barbara Board, PhD, has returned to the Extension at N.C. A&T family as the interim associate dean and Extension administrator.

Board previously spent five years at Extension at A&T as interim associate administrator and regional coordinator. In this role, she provided administrative and human resource leadership to programs and operations for North Carolina’s eastern region and gained hands-on experience and familiarity with North Carolina Cooperative Extension programs and the communities we serve across the state.

Most recently, Board has served as administrator of the Virginia Cooperative Extension and 4-H Resource and Partnership Enhancement unit. In this role, she analyzed and provided recommendations for existing and needed structures that support strategic priorities for 4-H program and Cooperative Extension resource development. She also provided collaborative leadership for member development and group operations.

“My life’s journey has put me on both the receiving and delivery side of the work of Cooperative Extension,” Board said. “That has provided me with a front-row seat to see how Extension brings about success in individuals and communities. So, I am very grateful to rejoin the N.C. A&T Cooperative Extension. I am looking forward to the impact we can make working together, and find joy in the work.”

“Dr. Board is a proven action-oriented leader and a champion for purposeful program development,” said Mohamed Ahmedna, dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
