Walter Hood ‘81 is CAES Alumnus of the Year

Noted landscape designer Walter Hood ‘81 was named the college’s Alumnus of the Year at ceremonies held during homecoming week. Accepting the award is Dean Mohamed Ahmedna, center, flanked by Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. and Provost Tonya Smith-Jackson.

"As an '81 alum of N.C. A&T's first class in landscape architecture, Walter Hood has achieved outstanding, and well-deserved, awards and accolades for his visionary body of work," said Dean Mohamed Ahmedna in accepting the award on Hood's behalf. " His contributions to the public realm and urban environments have uncovered and often helped us rediscover community spaces with deep, vibrant pasts yet long forgotten, but that are now remembered thanks to his exceptional work. The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is proud to present him with this award."

Walter Hood '81 is a graduate of the first landscape architecture class at the university.

Student and Community Farm grows healthy engagement

The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences’ latest farming adventure isn’t just for researchers and established farmers or ranchers. At the Student and Community Farm, students can experience many types of agriculture and members of the community can have a safe place to grow food – and enjoy each others’ company. This joint project shares staff and faculty from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design and Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T and is part of the 492-acre University Farm.
