Dean Mohamed Ahmedna (center) accepts the CAES Alumnus of the Year award on behalf of Walter Hood ‘81 from Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. and Provost Tonya Smith-Jackson.

Noted landscape designer Walter Hood ‘81 was named the college’s Alumnus of the Year at ceremonies held during homecoming week. Accepting the award is Dean Mohamed Ahmedna, center, flanked by Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. and Provost Tonya Smith-Jackson.

"As an '81 alum of N.C. A&T's first class in landscape architecture, Walter Hood has achieved outstanding, and well-deserved, awards and accolades for his visionary body of work," said Dean Mohamed Ahmedna in accepting the award on Hood's behalf. " His contributions to the public realm and urban environments have uncovered and often helped us rediscover community spaces with deep, vibrant pasts yet long forgotten, but that are now remembered thanks to his exceptional work. The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is proud to present him with this award."

Walter Hood '81 is a graduate of the first landscape architecture class at the university.
