CAES celebrates 162 graduates

May 26, 2020

Although N.C. A&T did not hold an in-person graduation ceremony this spring, the university and the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences found ways to celebrate graduates. This semester, 162 undergraduate and graduate students completed their degrees in the CAES.

On Saturday, May 23, the university premiered a video celebrating and honoring the Class of 2020.

In addition to congratulations messages from Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr., Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Beryl McEwen and numerous prominent alumni, the video features a star-studded parade of messages from celebrity entertainers, political figures and athletes.

But the real stars of the show are the graduating students, more than 450 of whom submitted videos and photos for inclusion in the presentation. The result is a yearbook brought to vivid life, with personal stories, great music and a deep vein of Aggie Pride tying the whole package together.

In the CAES, department chairpersons and the dean recorded messages of congratulations for the graduates.

“The faculty, staff and alumni of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences are proud of you and all you’ve accomplished,” Dean Mohamed Ahmedna said. “The knowledge you have gained at N.C. A&T will serve you well in the next chapter of your life.

“Know that wherever you go, you will always be part of our Aggie family. Warmest congratulations on your well-deserved success!”

And some students found unique ways to mark the occasion with family, friends and co-workers. Animal science major Bianca Ibarra was honored with a surprise celebration thrown by her colleagues in the High Point Police Department.
