Helen Kiss, Ph.D. has joined the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences as research development manager.

In this role, she will be responsible for helping organize interdisciplinary teams to seek large grants; assisting faculty in finding grant opportunities, developing budgets, interpreting grant policies and understanding regulations and requirements; reviewing proposal packages; and other duties necessary for the successful submission of grant proposals. She began her tenure in this role on June 1.

Kiss joins the CAES agricultural research staff from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she has served as grants specialist since 2016. Her previous roles have also included program development specialist at the University of Mississippi and assistant director of the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship at Miami University in Ohio.

“Dr. Kiss is a welcome addition to the Ag Research team,” said Shirley Hymon-Parker, Ph.D., associate dean for research in the college. “She brings with her not only experience assembling grant proposals and bring research teams together, but also the perspective of having been a faculty member.”

Kiss holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in plant biology from Rutgers University, and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
