The Student Perspective: What Are You Excited About This Year?

The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Student Advisory Council is composed of six student members from different areas of the College of Agriculture. Each member was asked what they’re excited about for this academic school year.

Taylor Peele, chair, is a junior studying Food and Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in food science. She is most looking forward to homecoming this school year. Her parents are A&T alumni, so she heard all the stories about tailgating, the fashion show and Aggie pride growing up. This is the first “fully functional” homecoming since 2019, so she’s excited to have the lifelong experiences she’s heard so much about.

 “I watched probably every N.C. A&T YouTube vlog there was about homecoming. I learned it is a full- week experience and everyone emphasized to have your homework done for the entire week so you can enjoy yourself,” she said.

Tahirah Jones, vice-chair, is a senior studying animal science with a concentration in animal industry.

 “What I am looking forward to the most is The Greatest Homecoming on Earth! Since the pandemic hit, I have not experienced a full-fledged GHOE since freshman year. Now that I am a senior, I am excited to take full advantage of as many student engagement events as possible! I can’t wait to attend the football game and tailgate and mix and mingle with CAES students and alumni,”  she said.

Ciara Brown, secretary, is a senior studying Food and Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in human nutrition and a minor in biology.

 “I am most excited about making long lasting memories this year, as my time at N.C. A&T will be coming to a close very soon,” she said.

Janaia Madden, treasurer, is a junior studying animal science.

 “I am excited to see who I’ll become and where I’ll be at the end of my junior experience. This year I am really focusing on not just speaking about, but also acting on plans and goals that I have set myself. I can’t wait to see what is in store for me on my journey of becoming a veterinarian,” she said.

Milosh McAdoo, communication officer, is a senior studying animal science with a concentration in animal industry.

“As I wrap up my time at North Carolina A&T, I’m most excited about taking part in all the traditions and experiences that the institution has to offer as an undergraduate student. I am tremendously grateful for all the opportunities the university has afforded me, and I look forward to growing and learning alongside my peers in the College of Agriculture prior to graduation in May,” he said.

Karla Branch, community service officer, is a sophomore double majoring in animal science and laboratory animal science.

“This year, I’m excited for homecoming, new opportunities, and personal growth. Homecoming is a given, but the university and CAES always have new things in store for the student body that I’m looking forward to. Being at N.C. A&T fosters immense personal growth and I can’t wait to see where I end up at the end of this year!”
