Jamilla Pinder ‘19 takes the oath of office as she is sworn in to fill an interim city council position in 2025.

Jamilla Pinder, a 2019 graduate of N.C. A&T’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, is among the 25 honorees named Triad Business Journal’s 2026 Outstanding Women in Business.

Pinder, director of community engagement and impact at Cone Health Foundation, earned her B.S. in agribusiness and food industry management. At Cone, her work centers on community voice, trust-building and equity-focused engagement. She strengthens the organization’s ability to listen and respond to historically marginalized communities more effectively.

Pinder also served as a member of Greensboro City Council, appointed to fill the unexpired term of fellow A&T alumna Yvonne Johnson who died in office, from February 2025 through December.

She initially enrolled at A&T in 1996, but motherhood and work interrupted Pinder’s studies. After more than 20 years of working for the Cone Health system and its partners, she returned to take classes part time at A&T to complete her degree.

Shawanna Nicole Moore-Geter, who earned her M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from N.C. A&T in 2014, also made the list.

The Triad Business Journal celebrated the honorees — leaders who represent nonprofits, manufacturing, education and professional services and have contributed to the region’s success — on April 16 at Cadillac Garage in Greensboro. The publication recognized the award winners online and in a special print edition.
