Syngenta Donates to CAES Scholarship Endowment

November 17, 2020

|

Global agriculture company Syngenta has donated $40,000 to the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences to support the CAES Scholarship Endowment.

“This gift, from our strategic partner Syngenta, will go a long way to helping alleviate tuition and other educational expenses that can become a major obstacle to graduation for many of our students,” said Dean Mohamed Ahmedna. “We thank Syngenta – which also provides internships for our students – and invite other friends of the CAES to help us build our scholarship endowment to provide support for them.”

The gift puts the CAES scholarship fund at $165,000, and comes in addition to a $20,000 gift made last year by the company to initiate the endowment. The CAES plans to grow the fund to $500,000 by 2022.

“Syngenta enjoys working in partnership with N.C. A&T and has been an active member of the CAES Advisory Board for several years,” said John Abbott, Ph.D., regulatory and stewardship head for Syngenta in North America.  “Along with the student scholarship, we plan to continue to foster this relationship and work to understand the synergies available from working together.”

For more information or to make a gift to the CAES, contact Justin Lewter, director of development, at 336-285-3055 or jmlewter1@ncat.edu.
