Falling for a Festival

Music, games, pumpkins, and great food were to be had during Dairy Club’s fall festival, Thu. Oct. 26, 2023, at the Dairy Unit on the University Farm. The Dairy Science (Dairy Club) organization is a CAES student group.

Students from across the college joined Animal Science students and student workers at the University Dairy for grilled hotdogs and burgers, face painting, pumpkin painting, music, and hands-on activities with calves at the farm’s dairy unit as they caught the autumn spirit with a fall festival on Oct. 26.

“We’ll probably have about 40 or 50 students by the time the night’s over,” said Lauren Mayo, Ph.D., research assistant professor in dairy science. “It’s a great way for students to relax after a long week.”

CAES Students Excel at MANRRS Cluster Conference

Twenty-five students from disciplines throughout the CAES attended the Regions I/II/III Virtual MANRRS Cluster Conference Sept. 25-26. In addition to participating in the various professional development programs offered through the conference, three students won awards in their respective competitions:

Rosa Purcell ’70 earns Alumni Achievement Award

Professor Rosa Purcell, former department chair and faculty member in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, has received the 2019 Alumni Achievement Award for the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The award was presented at Fall Convocation on Oct. 24.
