Congratulations to Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T's 2026 Award Winners!

Nutrition educator Shewana McSwain won the Innovation and Creativity Award for her leadership through the Fresh & Local program;

Personnel coordinator Meyonda Watkins won the Professional Excellence Award for her dedication to professional success;

Natural resources specialist Biswanath Dari won the Collaboration and Partnership Award for creating transformative collaborations between research, Extension and communities.

The awards were presented at Cooperative Extension's summer staff meeting.

As a high school student in rural Sunbury, N.C., Zamaria Kinsey has firsthand experience with the digital divide. A sophomore at Gates County High School, inconsistent internet access at school and home requires her to use a “hotspot” for internet connectivity on an almost daily basis.

It also is a source of identity for North Carolina towns from Lexington in the west to Greenville in the east.

Dale studies agriculture, entrepreneurship on Costa Rica trip

Rosalind Dale, administrator and associate dean for Cooperative Extension, traveled to Costa Rica in September on a trip with the Food System Leadership Institute program, a program offered by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities. Dale is an FSLI Fellow who graduated from the program in November 2018.

Aggies, Animals Enjoy University Wellness Day

April 21, 2023

The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the University Farm brought animals, guests and good times to N.C. A&T’s Aggie Wellness Day, held this month at Truist Stadium. Students, faculty, staff and guests enjoyed games, music, prizes and much more as they took opportunity to unwind and soak up the spring weather.
