Challenge accepted. It’s the CAES’s turn to lace up for a university wellness initiative launched last summer by the Student Health Center to help A&T employees develop and/or sustain a healthy life and work environment.

The Campus Walk Challenge begins Feb. 5 for CAES faculty and staff, and runs through Feb. 28. Participants are encouraged to reach a goal of 10,000 steps per day, which is consistent with the American Heart Association’s recommendation for physical fitness.

Participants must sign a waiver of liability and return it to Michelle Capelby Monday, Jan. 29. The waiver jump starts eligibility for Challenge giveaways and prizes. Participants are eligible for a:

  • Pedometer — given to all who register — to track steps.
  • Certificate of participation to all walkers.
  • Free one-hour massage, to the person who logs the most steps in the February challenge.
  • Pennant and trophy to the CAES department with the highest average of steps, per person, per day.

CAES walkers are invited to participate in Student Health Center scheduled walks each weekday at noon and 2:30 p.m.
