It’s a quest to help her family and her community fight chronic illness. In a journey to promote better nutrition and implement strategies to combat food insecurity in the state of North Carolina, one of those stops includes North Carolina A&T State University, where she will be graduating with her master’s degree this fall.

Fifteen minutes. That’s how much time students from N.C. A&T State University and N.C. State University had to come up with a winning granola recipe at the Food Science Olympics, held Sept. 17 at the University Farm Pavilion.

N.C. A&T’s early childhood educational facility, the Chlld Development Laboratory, a part of the Dept. of Family and Consumer Sciences, has earned the highest marks from the state for a seventh straight year.

More than 190 lactation specialists and maternity health practitioners from across the United States came to N.C. A&T this month to celebrate the work being done around breastfeeding locally and nationally, and help people gain the tools to be successful in supporting communities with their infant feeding goals, at the nation’s first HBCU-held breastfeeding conference.

Cooperative Extension agents, community organizations, educators, and researchers came together this spring to collaborate on innovative solutions that strengthen and empower communities through effective family and consumer sciences programs.
